Castle Hill

According to the 2011 Census there were 37,915 residents in Castle Hill with 62.3% of people were born in Australia. Castle Hill is a mix of low- to medium-density housing. The largest residential area in Castle Hill is located at both sides of Showground Road, between the commercial and the industrial area. Smaller residential areas are located at the east of the commercial area, as well as the suburb’s north-east consisting almost entirely of free-standing houses. Several government and private schools, as well as Castle Hill RSL Club, are located within these areas. To the North of Showground Road lies the housing development of Knighstbridge with approximately 1000 homes, whilst to the south and east of Showground Road and Old Northern Road lies the East Excelsior section of the suburb, known for its leafy streets, mature gardens and established homes.

Healthcare Services: Castle Hill has numerous established medical centres, doctors and dentists in addition to the Hills Private Hospital on Windsor Road, Baulkham Hills.

Shopping:  Castle Towers known locally as “The Towers” features major retailers such as Myer, David Jones, KMart, Aldi and Coles.  It also houses the major financial institutions and fine dining restaurants in the Piazza.  The towers is also home to Event Cinemas including Gold Class.  The centre will undergo a $285 million expansion, which will include a new 16-screen cinema complex, an eat-street area, 3085 additional parking spaces, as well as new retail stores. Knightsbridge Shops – located on the corner of Gilbert Road and Ridgecrop Drive feature a Supa IGA and specialty shops such as liquor, butcher, baker and newsagency.

Transport Services The bulk of Castle Hill residents travel to work by car, however Castle Hill is well served by private buses such as Hillsbus providing express services to the Sydney CBD as well as Parramatta, Pennant Hills, Beecroft, Dural, Hornsby and Macquarie Park.  Busways provides services to Stanhope Gardens, Kellyville and Bella Vista to Blacktown areas. The new rail service Northwest Rail Link from Rouse Hill to Chatswood via Epping is currently being constructed and is due to open in 2019.  For further information on the project:  http://www.sydneymetro.info/northwest/project-overview
